Dressing to Hide Your Secret Baby Bump
- Just until you are ready to tell the world -
You're pregnant... congratulations! Sh! Nobody knows yet. So you have a growing tummy, but you're not ready to show it off. Well, here are my top tips for dressing your 1-4 month baby belly.
Wrap dresses are your new best friend. Not only are they really flexible, lasting well into your pregnancy, they look great and also downplay your midriff in these early months. If you like your natural fibres go for a cotton, cotton jersey or silk. Bear in mind that jersey can cling where you may not want it to. Synthetic fabrics can make you hotter, but are often really flattering, just skimming over everything.

Maternity Peplum Top
Normal peplum tops usually come out from the waist, but a maternity peplum will come out just under your bust. Worn with a straight or pencil skirt, it will still give you a really lovely shape, hiding your tummy, but with plenty of room to grow.

Stretch Pencil Skirt
This needs to be in a structured stretch fabric. Anything too soft or thin will show all your new lumps and bumps. Choose one below the knee to give you a really nice shape.

Light Weight Jacket
Choose linen or a special synthetic knit.
A simple little jacket (even 3/4 length sleeve in a neutral or soft white worn open) can add interest to your outfit, hiding everything you want to hide and breaking up your torso with slimming vertical panels, plus it hides your bump on the side profile.

If you don't want to give up your heels, why not switch to a wedge? It will give you the height along with some support. Choose one without a high ankle strap in case your ankles swell during pregnancy.
